Portuguese Laurel. 

Prunus lusitanica - Portuguese Laurel is an evergreen shrub with dark green glossy leaves and red stalks. Slender spikes of small white fragrant flowers on untrimmed plants in early summer followed by deep purple ,egg shaped fruits in the autumn, makes a good dense hedge. Grows to 4-5metres but can be trimmed to make a fine hedge from 1.2 metres up to 3 metres tall.
