River Birch

Betula nigra is a bushy fast growing deciduous tree with peeling light pinky brown bark later nearly black. Diamond shaped mid green leaves turning yellow in autumn. Tolerant of wet sites and often grown for its attractive bark and stems. Can be planted in full sun or part shade conditions. 

Eventual height up to 12 metres plus with a spread of 4-8 metres over 20 to 50 years.
