Corylopsis spicata - spike witch hazel is a medium sized deciduous shrub with ovate toothed bright green leaves. Fragrant pale yellow racemes of flowers 10cm or so long appear on bare stems in early spring. Will grow in acid soil. Part shade. 

Eventual height and spread up to 2 metres 

This is a deciduous shrub so it will lose all its leaves in autumn shooting fresh new growth in the spring.
